When we talk about entrepreneurship, what comes to mind?

If you are a parent, maybe you think it’s a risky business. If you are just a school student, it may sound adrenaline rushing. If you are an entrepreneur, it’s just equity, investment, seed funding, and a dream to make it big one day.

Even though there are multiple perspectives on this big word, there is an element which exists and makes some people’s stomachs churn.
‘Risk’ is a word that has often been used as a single most powerful argument against Entrepreneurship. There is no denying the fact that the risk element cannot be taken away, there are still some people who are willing to play all their cards and give a long shot to it.

There are several factors which determine the risk appetite of a person. One of those factors is the experiences that the person has had with similar kind of situations throughout his/her life. What it means is that if a person is taught how to make more with less and create value for the society and for oneself from an early stage, the capability of a person to handle risky situations enhances. This is the crux of entrepreneurship; creating more with less. Keeping this in mind, there are certain schools that have come up with some brilliant initiatives to equip young minds with skills and tools to think towards generating value for the world. One such school is Khaitan Public School, Sahibabad.

This school, based in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh has shown a lot of potential in terms of approaching modern education in a progressive way. Apart from having a profound curriculum, the school has also taken the initiative to walk an extra mile to develop some of the key skills into the other spheres of a student’s life.

The Entrepreneurship program is one such example of an extra mile that the school has chosen to walk, under the leadership of Mr. Anirudh Khaitan who is a success-oriented and risk-taking entrepreneur himself. This program is an annual 20-day event felicitated for young and aspiring entrepreneurs. In this program, students from class Xl are selected and given a sum of Rs. 1,000 in groups. With this endowment, they are tested on their demonstration of key concepts of Business, Accountancy, Economics, and Mathematics to generate value in the limited time frame that they have. Not only in school premises, but they are also encouraged to take their operations to the real market. The winning team gets Rs. 25,000 along with all the profits yielded.

There is no denying the fact that entrepreneurship is one of the most trending things in India right now. With more and more entrepreneurs willing to dive deep, the cultural evolution of the Indian market is inevitable. Silicon Valley is not only a place but an idea which asks people to back their dreams with the courage to pursue them.

Khaitan Public School is an institution that absolutely understands this idea and has stepped up to give an affirmative gesture to it.
