Unreasonable Group: Ensuring success of growth-stage entrepreneurs
ABOUT UNREASONABLE GROUP:
Unreasonable Group operates immersive programs for growth-stage entrepreneurs offering solutions to seemingly intractable challenges. They are also a multimedia company, a private global network, and an investment firm. They forge unlikely partnerships with some of the world’s largest institutions and most admired brands, and also operate multiple initiatives across asset classes, industries, and geographies because Unreasonable Group is dedicated to doing whatever it takes to drive resources to and break down barriers for entrepreneurs solving BFPs.
WHAT MAKES THEM DIFFERENT:
The Unreasonable Group is driven by a sense of impatience when it comes to putting a dent on the world’s toughest challenges. To this end, rather than working with entrepreneurs at the seed and early stages of their development like accelerators and incubators, the Unreasonable Group has found that the best approach is to support growth-stage entrepreneurs who are already wielding the most impactful solutions of our time. Today, the Unreasonable Group’s portfolio is just shy of 175 entrepreneurs and is positively impacting over 400 million individuals in more than 180 countries. They focus on scaling what works.
STORY AND JOURNEY OF THE UNREASONABLE GROUP:
From the onset, they’ve believed that entrepreneurs building rapidly scalable businesses are their best bet for solving these challenges. To this end, their north star has always been to partner with and support world-class entrepreneurs positioned to bend history in the right direction.
Going back to the start, the vision behind Unreasonable Group found its roots at the Unreasonable Institute (rebranded in 2017 to “Uncharted”) in the summer of 2010. That summer a few remarkable events took place that caused the Unreasonable Group’s founder, and the founder of the Institute, Daniel Epstein, to see a larger opportunity.
As claimed by the Unreasonable Group, by the time the inaugural program had come to an end, a number of the participating entrepreneurs had gotten a tattoo of the Unreasonable logo on their body for the rest of their lives. Furthermore, a handful of entrepreneurs pledged to donate equity back to the Unreasonable.
In a public-private partnership with the U.S. State Department and the United Nations that received the UN SDG Action Connector Award, the unreasonable Group is scaling up growth-stage ventures that are dedicated to solving each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The goal ensures that they drive resources into the most effective entrepreneurs in the world to achieve the “Global Goals” by 2030.
By 2020, it is estimated that the global economy will need 212 million new jobs. With the belief that entrepreneurs are the job creators of today and tomorrow, the Unreasonable Group teamed up with Barclays and co-founded Unreasonable Impact in an effort to scale entrepreneurs each solving pressing societal challenges and positioned to create at least 500+ jobs in 5 years.
UNREASONABLE.is serves as a multimedia resource and gathering place for entrepreneurs hungry to solve the world’s biggest problems. Their writers (world-renowned serial entrepreneurs, investors, and global thought leaders) publish daily articles and videos presenting the stories of, and advice for, the next generation of entrepreneurs.
